Device Provisioning

Device Provisioning Guide

What is Device Provisioning?

Device provisioning is the process of installing or reimaging a computer with the TechLit OS. This is the first step for setting up a new machine or recovering an existing one.

The entire process involves two main steps:

  1. Booting from the USB Drive
  2. Running the Installation Commands

Step 1: Booting The USB Drive

To begin, you must boot the computer from the TechLit Installer USB drive.

Power off the computer

Ensure the device is completely powered off.

Plug in the USB drive

Insert the provided TechLit USB drive into a USB port on the computer.

Access the Boot Menu and Select the USB

Power on the computer and immediately use the manufacturer’s specific key to open the one-time boot menu.

Tip

If your key isn’t listed, the startup screen often briefly displays the correct key. You can also search online for “[Your Computer Brand and Model] boot menu key”.

From the menu that appears, select the USB drive and press Enter. Always prefer a UEFI boot option if available.

Once successfully booted, you will see the TechLit Installer menu.
